What We Write About

Three places where parenting gets hard.

Most parenting advice is theory. Ours is the stuff you can use Tuesday at 4:47 PM when nothing’s working.

🤍

Discipline & Boundaries

The conversations, scripts, and reframes that work when “stay calm” doesn’t. Without yelling, bribing, or losing your mind.

  • Tantrums and big feelings
  • Setting limits that stick
  • Sibling fights without refereeing
  • Defiance, hitting, and pushback

Common Questions

What parents ask before they subscribe.

Is this written by an actual parent?

Yes. Every article and every script comes from real parenting moments — not theoretical psychology textbooks. Where research is cited, it’s research; the rest is what’s actually worked in our house and the houses of parents we’ve talked to.

What ages is this for?

Most of what’s here works for ages 2 through about 12. Some content (the Calm Parent Toolkit, the routines toolkit, emotion coaching) flexes wider — toddlers through tweens. Teen-specific content is growing.

Do I need to buy something to get value?

No. The blog is free, the Calm Parent Toolkit PDF is free, and the Weekly Notes newsletter is free. The paid programs go deeper for parents who want more — they’re not the gate to anything useful here.

How is this different from other parenting blogs?

Three things. One: scripts you can use mid-meltdown, not theory you read at 11 PM. Two: no judgment, no guilt, no “good parents always…” framing. Three: short reads. Most articles are 5–7 minutes — designed for parents who don’t have an hour.

Will I get spammed if I subscribe?

One email a week, on Thursdays. That’s it. The welcome sequence has a few extra emails over the first 10 days, then it settles into the weekly rhythm. Unsubscribe is one click and we don’t make you click through three pages to do it.

Start Where You Are

Tonight could go a little easier.

Download the Calm Parent Toolkit. Pick one script. Try it once. That’s the whole assignment.
